We just returned from a trip to the sea (the Atlantic Ocean, to be just a *little* more precise;). A lot of time was spent discussing mermaids and selkies. I came back with one piece of art: a mirror encrusted with shells, stones and sea glass. It's small and not overdone. I'm enjoying it, although I'm not sure I have the right place for it yet. I also got a blue and green glass drop from Brock and Juniper for my birthday, the day we left for the trip. It was waiting to be hung up when we returned, and I'm pretty sure I haven't found its home yet, either. It will probably go in the kitchen, rather than in the mango room, where it is now. I did a bit of art while we traveled, but not as much as I'd have liked. I'm going to work on some tonight, as soon as I've finished this post.
Other inspiring things on the trip: nights spent sleeping on a porch in Vermont. The moon so bright one night that I had to cover my eyes to sleep. The dawn so early and beautiful that I had to get up and didn't feel sleepy. A barred owl and then coyotes saying goodbye to the night or greeting the dawn (or just coincidentally feeling vocal as the light came). Hummingbirds and dewy webs in the dawn yard and surrounding forest. Fog on the rocky seacoast. A boat like Lookfar in a tiny harbor town.
Maybe I'll get around to posting a picture or two...
