Chai & Art
blogging, so I can put up some current art for
those who are curious. I'm drinking some chai
as I get down to business...
This piece was inspired by the inner covers of a book I love, Tell Me a Dragon by Jackie Morris. It really looks nothing like her end papers of dragon eggs, which are really beautiful, but it got me thinking about shapes and luminous watercolors. I used to get this book out for Juniper all the time when she was little, and then later just for me. I should probably get a copy of my own before they become impossible to find.

Studio Tours & Sales
Just participated in the Frederick Art Walk last weekend, and saw about 640 people come through. What a day! Made some good sales, but mostly, met lots of great people and had a good time. Thanks to Charlotte for inviting me.
Next, the KW Artists' Co-op is having our Enchanted Christmas Market. It's Friday, December 9th, and Saturday, the 10th. I'll be there on Saturday, so hope folks will stop by for some Christmas shopping.

ART WALK this WEEKEND!
You're invited to the Kitchener Waterloo Central Art Walk this weekend, Saturday, October 15th, 10-5, and Sunday, October 16th, 12-5.
This is my 8th year participating, and I'm in a new location: a light, bright studio space at the KW Artists' Co-op, on the 2nd floor of 142 Waterloo St, Waterloo (NOT Kitchener- tell your GPS!). We have a whole group of lovely artists there, including painters, potters, costume makers, and jewelry makers, and we're close to other locations, too!
Come for a stroll through a beautiful neighborhood on a lovely autumn day, watch us work, warm up with some drinks and baked goods, and perhaps take home a piece of art for your very own.

Hope to see you this weekend!

The Prize!
Today I finished the piece I'm giving away as part one of our door prizes for the KW Central Art Walk. I'm very happy with it. I always enjoy making these tiny pieces. Each time, I find a frame that says something to me, and then make the picture I see peeking out of it. This time it was a familiar world, but with different skies, and a frame that is made from two pieces of glass and some delicate metal edging.
I'm getting so much done at the studio! It's such a nice space to be in, and when I'm not alone, the people I'm with are enjoyable and inspiring. Along with finishing the door prize, today saw some major work done on a piece I've been working on for too long now, and I figured out what I'm doing for a pair of sea pieces for the Art Walk. I need a little time to work on Livia's paintings, too. I'll be spending as much time as I can over there in the next few months, to finish her paintings and get ready for both studio tours. And then there are the Christmas gifts...
I need to be over there for the next full moon. It was perfect last month, shining in through my window as I worked.
