Whoo Who?
A small slice of a mysterious life. October, 2012.
The Spring Equinox has come and gone, but it doesn't quite feel like Spring, yet. At least, it doesn't feel like things are growing, and the air at night still smells like crisp winter, rather than the fermenting spring. There is more spring-blue light in the sky, though. And this week it's finally above freezing most days. And I'm starting to see mud, and the tips of our bushes out from under the snowbanks. I'm working on a painting with a very mediterranean blue throughout, and it's hard to believe in, because the color is so different from what's around me. So here I am writing about painting, instead of doing it.
What else... starting early with my paintings this year. Usually I seem to get more done in the autumn, but this year I've been working more steadily through the winter. I finished the Spring Fox painting in January, and sent it home with its model, where it belongs and was long intended to be! I will have to think before beginning the next of that series. I think it will be Winter, but I may work on that simultaneously with Summer, and then see which one pulls ahead, or pulls me ahead. In February, I made another baby-welcoming piece, for a cousin of B's who is expecting a child in April. Since then, I've started the blue painting. I'm also excited about several smaller pieces still floating around in my head. And also about a mermaid series, since I have gotten a lot of requests, and the mermaids occasionally splash their tails at me, rather than just floating around like the other ideas...
